New fan for my T43

Many of you who have hung out with many at some point in the last year have been introduced to my ThinkPad jet engine. Don't know what I'm talking about? My ThinkPad T43 has a fan that sounds like hair clippers. It's pretty embarrassing when I'm sitting in a group meeting and that thing kicks on. I've stopped pulling my laptop out during class because it is too distracting to those around me. Let me see if I can stick an audio sample of my laptop on here so you know what I'm talking about.

I purchased a new fan on eBay last week and it just arrived today. I am going to install the new fan in hopes that I can using my ThinkPad in class again! Of course, my new MacBook is scheduled to arrive tomorrow, it the ThinkPad won't get much more use. I will likely sell it off once I know the new fan is working well. The rest of the computer works phenomenally well. It's just...LOUD!

My last laptop did the same

My last laptop did the same thing :) It was great fun. It got even better when my keyboard mysteriously died. I had to buy an external keyboard and cart that around. It was bad enough to pull out a noisy laptop but even worse to pull out a full sized usb keyboard and plug it in.

Glad you've got your fan fixed now.

Funny. Wow, that was loud!

Hello,
I used to have the exact problems with almost every desktop machine I had in the past, and the problem was the BROKEN fan. Despiting the possible vibrations the fans can produce, the overall loudness of the working fan simply means, that your fan is BROKEN, not just crippled by the manufacturer.
The good thing in the story is that you were able to replace it all by yourself ;)
I really admire this, as I`ve did exactly the same thing many times. Why trashing a working machine, when the only problem it has is the FAN?
Although, I perfectly know how the noise can *@#@* your day ...

That was pretty hilarious,

That was pretty hilarious, Mark. :)
